可见：当β=50%时，η=94%；当β=100%时，η=96%。虽然β增一倍，η变化仅2%，但对中、大功率如几百千瓦至几千千瓦电动机而言亦是可观的。系统效率等于变频器效率与电动机效率的乘积，只有两者都处在较高的效率下工作时，系统效率才较高。

（3）从计算功率的角度

对于连续运转的变频器必须同时满足以下3个计算公式。

1）满足负载输出：≥PM/η。

2）满足电动机容量：≥√3kUeIe&TImes;10-3。

3）满足电动机电流：≥kIe。

式中，为变频器容量（单位为kVA）；PM为负载要求的电动机轴输出功率（单位为kW）；Ue为电动机额定电压（单位为V）；Ie为电动机额定电流（单位为A）；η为电动机效率（通常约为0. 85）；cosφ为电动机功率因数（通常约为0.75），k是电流波形补偿系数（由于变频器的输出波形并不是完全的正弦波，还含有高次谐波的成分，其电流应有所增加，通常k为1. 05～1. 1）。
